Is history "a pack of tricks the living play on the dead"? In my history courses we discuss what happened, why, and why it is difficult to interpret people's actions in the past. I try to present history as a series of stories about people, events and important developments which we then need to analyze and relate to today's societies. My classes include a combination of lecture, discussion, reading and some videos in order to accomplish this.

Courses taught: HIS 103, HIS 105, HIS 107, HIS 260 (History of Russian and the Soviet Union), IDS 115 (Myth of Race)
