TEXT: ACCOUNTING, Fees, et al., 19 th ed. South Western

OBJECTIVE: Introduce the basic principles of financial accounting including an overview of the accounting cycle, the matching concept, internal control, inventory methods, accounting for cash, receivables, inventory, and basic financial statement analysis.

 

GRADE PLAN (COMPOSITION) :

LETTER GRADE :

A > 90% C > 70% F < 60%

B > 80% D > 60%

 

ATTENDANCE:

Up to four absences will be permitted, more than four will reduce the final course grade by one percentage points per missed class. (Based three meetings per week)

TARDINESS:

Being late for class will be treated as an absence.

ASSIGNMENTS:

Assignments are due at the beginning of class (date) designated on the syllabus, handouts or announced in class. Assignments should be done in either pencil or with a software package ie: word, excel. (If you will be absent for a class, you may E-mail homework. It must be received before the class).

MISSED EXAMINATIONS, "CHEATING", AND AN "INCOMPLETE" GRADE:

There will be no make-up exams. Students who miss an exam must submit a several page paper on a topic and article relevant to the course selected by the instructor. A student found turning in another's work as their own will be given a zero for that application. An "Incomplete" grade will only be given to those students who have completed a majority of the course and who also have earned at least a C or better in all exams given thus far.
