    Life’s Highlights

I have traveled to far away places,
gathering so much knowledge that I want to scream out to all that will listen…
I wish they would stop pushing on my tip so hard.

When I spill my yellow blood along all the pages of the wonderful text books,
it is as though I am breathing new life into myself,
I wish they would stop pushing on my tip so hard.

I want to tell about all of the human suffering and inhumane treatment in distant lands,
of the many prejudices I still read about,
of the many heroic people I have learned about,
I wish they would stop pushing on my tip so hard.

I want to tell everyone how tired I am,
but most of all I want to scream out,
STOP PUSHING ON MY TIP SO HARD!!!

Burst

The angelic-like innocent newborn,
free and sheltered from the outside world,
begins to make her way though life.

In her early years, honesty is never questioned
and she is content when she rests her head at night.

As the years progress,
and the tired lines form on her face,
she thinks back to all she has been through.

Not so innocent are her thoughts anymore.
She has been through some hard and worrisome times.
She has been through some wonderful times.
She is a wiser woman, and for that she would never change.

The once so fearless happy child,
will never be again.
