Life and Times of a Ragdoll

It’s dark all around me, I’m all alone.
But for how long I’m not really sure.
Then suddenly, there’s a light,
A magnificent rainbow of color.
Lights wrapped around a tall tree.
The room begins to spin so I look down.
A young wide eyed child, pigtails, smile
Ear to ear is spinning me around.

Me, I’m brand new, brand new to this world.
Under my white apron, I’m wrapped in the sky
With a mass amount of stars all around.
I have a perky pink smile and tiny black eyes.
I have golden hair that shines like the sun.
On top of that are my little blue bows.
My expression always happy, but I’m not quite complete.
I have no hands, fingers, toes, feet, or nose.

What’s my reason for being? You have to scratch the
Surface to find a purpose. Why am I here?
We play. I see! I bring happiness and companionship for
Hours, days, weeks, months, and years.

The fun we would have. The games we would play…
Tea parties, dress up, mommy and babe.

But as time passes I spend more time on a shelf,
Being along, being by myself.
Behind my always smile I’m tired, weary, lonely, and
Sad. Alone, nowhere to go and then it is
Dark all around me. For how long I’m not
Really sure. Then suddenly it begins…

I’m surrounded by light. A new wide eyed
Child holding me tight.

Bright white smile, big eyes, and bright rosy cheeks
Cannot hide the carefree nature of my childhood.
It radiates individuality, and
Uniqueness.
With wondrous wide eyes I experience surprise, and
Amazement sets in.
Youth.
Every new experience causes a widening of the eyes,
Puzzlement and wonderment.

New experiences will cause confusion.
(but it was much simpler then.)

Determined to reach the end point, a certain goal.
A direction not yet chosen.
The eyes, present time, now not so wide,
But with dismal circles, burdensome bags.

The weariness and tiredness
Does not steal from the happiness;
Does not steal from the carefree nature;
Does not steal from the beauty
Emanated from my
Face…
Eyes…
Soul.
