Day

Once

Thinking back on days gone by,
She wished she knew what she knows now.
All the good times all the lies
But she pulled through some how.

There he was so tall so fine
He came and asked her out.
What he said didn’t seem a line
So thrilled she wanted to shout.

Months went by the seasons changed
And like the trees they flourished.
Was it by God their love was arranged?
Both their hearts were nourished.

So confident she turned her back
She never heard a sound
The love of her life was lost to crack
And never again to be found.

Been seven years since he went away
Her soul has yet to heal.
Though her heart had been delayed,
Can’t help the way she feels.

Why does she care, he caused her pain,
Snatched and mangled her heart
Silently she’s slipping…insane
Doesn’t know where to start.

Just has to see him one more time
Prove herself to be strong.
Still her heart as not to chime,
Wonder if she’s wrong?

And there he stood and her heart dropped
She knew she should walk away.
Feet a move she could not stop.
It has to be today.

They walked and talked made hungry love
They both needed release.
Darkness gave the sun a shove,
They parted still at ease.

Thinking back on days gone by,
Her smile remembers that day.
Will she return and give it a try?
No how in hell, no way!

A Peace of Me

Ten years since the last birth
And what a surprise she was.
A soft and tender bundle of joy
Her tiny face a fuzz.
Mystified although Alert
With trembling fragile fingers.
Eyes that followed from side to side
Not once did they cease to linger.

Like her mother
Her nose was broad and swollen.
Like her mother
Her full-mouthed lips were molten.
Unlike her father
Who was long ago goodbye.
She’d grow to be a survivor
It’s mirrored in her eyes.

Raised with only her mother’s single love
Nothing her life lacking.
Strong-willed with vast determination
This child will need no backing.
What will come in later life
Again is yet to be seen.
Mysterious, inquisitive and regal
A beautiful Nubian Queen.

Mister Bunny

The bunny was a gift at a baby shower
And when it was opened it possessed such powers.
When its owner got older she gave it to her sister.
Off to another home, I’ll miss you Mister.

The sister grew up and soon she would be wed.
After she gave birth, Mister went to baby’s bed.
The baby took ill with a mysterious disease
And mother gave Mister to another sick child to please.

When that child passed, looking at Mister was hard
So that child’s mother gave him to the children’s ward.
The hospital burned down but Mister was saved
To the second hand store Mister they gave.

Oh, mama look isn’t that bunny so funny?
The child was pointing at Mister Bunny.
The mother went inside and about Mister she enquired.
The cashier told her how Mister survived a fire.

In secret the mother laid Mister away
She would surprise her child another day.
The bunny was a gift at a baby shower
And when it was opened it possessed such powers.
