Text: A Concise Introduction to Logic, by Patrick J. Hurley, 8th Edition.

The course will include (at least) the material in the 'Traditional Logic Course",as described in the Hurley text on page vi of the Preface-- Chapters 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.1-7.4. (7.5-7.7)

This course is being offered as a regular TTH course.The course also may be done as a self-paced course.That is, you may work through the required material on your own, either ahead of the class or behind the class, or some of each, taking the appropriate tests when you are ready.But, I will not be a tutor to those of you who do not come to class regularly.That is to say, if you are not attending the classroom sessions, I will not provide lectures, or sessions in which I do for you individually what I have done in class,If you elect to do it as a self-paced course, you are largely on your own.Those of you who elect to work at your own pace are welcome to come to classes if you like.

There is no attendence requirement.

Grades will be calculated according to the following:

Test Schedule (subject to modification)

TestA --Chapter 1-section 1.1, 1.2.This test is completely optional-Take the test, turn it in, I will grade it, and you can count it if you like.We will not spend time on this in class.

Test #B --Chapter 3-all of chapter 3.The Chapter 3 test will cover all of the material in the chapter.I have a practice test for this section if you want it.When you are ready to take this test, let me know and I will tell you how toproceed

Tests C 4A-C4C- - We will begin our class es with chapter 4,. Hence the first in-class tests will be the block of C tests.

Test C4A is on the material in sections 4.1-.4.3 of chapter 4.

Test C4B is on the material in sections 4.4-4.5 in chapter 4.

Test C4C is on the material in section 4.6-4.7 of chapter 4.

Test D--5.1 (ignore any material about mood and figure) 5.2, 5.3 

Test E--6.1, 6.2, 6.3 

Test F--6.4, 6.5, 6.6 

Test G—7.1

Test H—7.2

Test I—7.3

Test J—7.4
